The Merrylee Story
Merrylee Plotholders Association celebrated 100 years of gardening in 2017. As part of a city wide heritage project, a few members of the Association delved into the archives to research and write the history of Merrylee and chart its development over that time. The Centenary Celebrations booklet reflects changing horticultural trends, the impact and importance of growing during wartime and brings us up to date with new developments, a changing membership and why allotments are still relevant inthe 21st century.

Allotments for the 21st century
Last year we welcomed BBC Alba here at Merrylee as they filmed the new series of SpeakGaelic. We'll be a featured location throughout the current series and eagle-eyed viewers can spot us from 22 January onwards. SpeakGaelic is first shown on Mondays at 7.30pm on BBC Alba and available on BBC iPlayer. I can't wait to top up my Gaelic skills and hopefully learn some gardening Gaelic words! Taitneach fhèin!

Merrylee Plotholders Association has over 100 allotment garden plots at Langside Drive in the Newlands district of Glasgow's southside. Hidden away inbetween Giffnock, Newlands and Merrylee, the large site is home to over 100 members, all passionate about fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers and friendship. Promoting nature, biodiversity and the environment.
